TheALEogy
Topic: Whatever is on your mind/Open discussion
TheALEogy provides an opportunity for church members and friends to gather weekly at a restaurant to openly and safely discuss how faith intersects with current world topics and personal interest areas. We gather every Monday at 6:30 p.m. at Mimi's Cafe off the Loop 101 and Chandler Blvd. Topics are thoughtfully suggested by attendees and discussed in the spirit of fellowship and respect.
If there's a certain topic you'd like the Pastor's perspective on, email us for future consideration.

How the Bible Came to Be "The Bible"
The Bible as we know it today contains 66 books that determine our faith and life as people of God. Have you ever wondered why only these 66 writings were adopted as the only writings that are considered “Holy Scripture” while many more existed in various forms. Wonder no more.
Beginning on Thursday, September 11 and continuing each Thursday thru October 23, Pastor Bernie will be leading a study in which he will share the process for how these 66 books were chosen while also examining some of the books that did not make the cut to be considered
“Holy Scripture”. The class will be exposed to some of the writings from the Dead Sea Scrolls, as well as those discovered in the Egyptian desert at Nag Hammadi. The study will also discuss other issues such as who wrote these books and why they were not included in the Bible. Some
of the books we will study include: The War Scroll, The Temple Scroll and Manuel of Discipline from the Dead Sea Scrolls discovery and various gospels found at Nag Hammadi such as The Gospel of Thomas, The Gospel of Mary Magdalene, The Gospel of Truth, and The Gospel of Judas.
Each class session will begin at 6:30pm and be held both in-person in the CLC Youth Room and via Zoom. If you wish to be involved in this study please contact Pastor Bernie at bernie@htlutheran.com or see him at Sunday worship and let him know that you plan to be a part of this study.
